Tragedy

Tragedy

A light reflects over the vapor sea,
Playing,
Dancing,
Laying,
Prancing,
And it’s so entrancing,
Oh it’s so captivating to me.
It draws me in,
And spits me out,
Plays me like a fiddle,
And wears me down.
Then it rebuilds me,
I start anew,
All of this makes me wonder
What I should do.
Then I realize,
Not a minute has passed.
The light is still rising,
A shadow is cast.
But the shadow of the dawn
Doesn’t come close to the awe
That I feel while watching this,
I feel my heart sink to an abyss.
But the abyss is one of warmth,
Of love, joy, peace,
And so much more.
I feel my soul stretch,
From shore to shore,
Just as the light does,
It makes my mind just soar.
Soar over the clouds
Through which the light is shining,
I look down
And see the silver lining,
The silver lining on every cloud,
On every shadow,
Even on the ground.
Though the world keeps spinning,
And still goes round,
Time seems to slow,
And more time is found.
The light just flows,
And grows,
And before you know,
Another second has passed.
As I keep staring,
I lay in the grass
And my eyes scan the horizon,
In which my eyes stick fast,
And my mind shatters
With such a blast,
Such a blast
That it would move a mountain.
A mountain moves to light’s pure fountain.
I started to keep track of time,
But I stopped counting.
I stopped at the moment the sun came up,
It made me gasp,
It made me lust,
It made me lust after a world gone by,
A world where even the wingless could fly,
Fly in their minds,
And fly to the sky,
But then I thought
That world didn’t die.
It’s still here,
It’s in the now.
All you need
Is to look around.
Look at everything,
Beauty abounds.
See the world,
And hear the sounds.
So before I leave,
I need to see,
See just what the world can be.
See the colors,
See the leaves.
The leaves in fall,
Summer,
Winter,
Spring.
In each of those,
There is beauty.
This I remember,
This I sing.
There is beauty,
Even in tragedy.

Together

Together
We all live together,
But we die alone.
This whole world
Is a broken home.
A battle is fought,
Over broken souls.
But what are souls worth,
To the unknown?

The unknown is an abyss,
That feeds on light.
When it speaks,
People flee in fright.
Killing appeases,
But only for the night.
The angels come,
And devils fight.
Then the abyss
Ties the rope tight.

L’appel du vide,
A beautiful thing.
Jump off the edge,
And into the ring.
Fight three rounds,
Then go and swing.
Get put down,
And now you’re free.

Together we stand,
Alone we fall.
Hear the devil,
Move down the hall.
Nobody can stand on their own,
And still stand tall.
So let them sing,
And let out a call.

The Greatest Revenge

The Greatest Revenge

When I awoke, it was abrupt, as though somebody had splashed ice cold water on me. I stared into the night, and my eyes slowly adjusted. I saw a pale face, surrounded by a dark cloak. It was a face much like a human’s, but with far more beauty, and far more terribleness, than a human face could muster.

It reached out its hand, and a sense of calm washed over me. I reached out, grabbed its hand, and suddenly was standing on the edge of an abyss. I could feel it staring into me, into my being, into my very soul. I could feel it ripping me apart piece by piece, dissecting me so that it could see how I worked. Then, I felt its satisfaction.

I looked around me. There were pale figures, all featureless, moving towards the edge of the abyss. Then, they would attempt to cross. Some would make it, and then would be either consumed by fire or by light.

However, the majority would fade into the abyss. They would fall and slowly fade from sight. That was when the being next to me spoke. “The bad go to the flame, and the good go to the light. However, the worst go to the abyss.”

I found myself almost unable to speak, but I finally gathered up the courage. “Who are the worst?”

“The worst are the nameless, those who don’t leave a mark on the world, good or bad. The bad at least influence the world in some way, and often cause a contingency of good to happen from their actions.

“However, the nameless accomplish nothing. They leave nothing, no legacy, not a single thing. You see, if you truly hate somebody, you shouldn’t kill them, burn their house down, or target their family. That martyrs them. All you need to do is allow them to fade. Allow them to fade off into the darkness, into the Aether, out of people’s memories and hearts. That is the greatest revenge anybody can hope to achieve.

“It is the greatest revenge for one simple reason. It is the greatest revenge because if you leave no
mark on the world, your existence was meaningless. It did nothing, accomplished nothing. You have no legacy to speak of. Is that not a fate worse than death?”

            And then I understood.

Remember

Remember

Freedom comes,
But at what cost?
The ones who died,
Forever lost.
But do not weep,
For it was not in vain.
So remember,
Those who were slain.

To kill is death,
But inside.
Only a few,
Can take a life.
Killin a price,
Paid and filled.
So remember,
Those who killed.

Death comes not once,
But twice.
Once in body,
Once in time.
When memory fades,
And loses your face.
Remember those,
Without a name.

Those who died,
Those who killed.
Those forgotten,
Live on still.
Young ones come,
Martyrs go.
Remember those,
With names unknown.

12.5.14

Stars

Stars
Everyone has their story,
Everyone has their scars.
Everyone deserves their glory,
And to live among the stars.
And while some scars are deeper,
And some stories sadder.
Whether you’re up front or in the bleachers,
Doesn’t really matter.
So long as you have,
That one you can hold.
Just rejoice and be glad,

For that love is gold.

4.5.14

Cradle to Grave

Cradle to Grave

From cradle to grave,
Life robs us all.
We hit the ground running,
Then begin to fall.
We stumble and falter,
Then hit the gravel.
Then the judge of life,

Bangs the gavel.

30.4.14

Tears of Heaven

Tears of Heaven

Upon the birth of an angel,
The tears of Heaven do fall.
Raining from clouds above,
Answering God’s call.
Tears not of sadness,
But rather of joy.
And when they fall,
The skies ring with noise.

Upon the growth of a man,
The tears of Heaven do fall.
Falling upon his head,
And he hears the thunder bawl.
Tears to commemorate,
The life of one unseen.
And yet he’s recognized,
By the one on whom he leans.

Upon the death of a devil,
The tears of Heaven do fall.
To show love for an enemy,
Who once did stand tall.
For a victory without love,
Is but a battle.
And if you live by hate,

By hate’s chains you rattle.
